“As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” Proverbs 27:17. Men are called to be leaders throughout scripture, but not everyone has the gift of leadership. Therefore, gifted leaders are raised up to teach others to be leaders; in the church, in the home, in the workplace and in other areas. At Higher Ground Calvary Chapel we believe it is important for Christian men to grow spiritually through personal devotions and Bible study, through group Bible study with other men, and through the teaching from our pastors. Our desire is to sharpen one another through God’s Word and to equip men “for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4: 12-13).
Opportunities to be involved:
(1) Men's Prayer Breakfast – With a focus on prayer, a group of men join together on the 1st Saturday of each month at 8:00 am for worship, devotions, prayer and breakfast;
(2) Men’s Bible Study – The Men’s Bible study begins in late September and continues through April. We study God’s Word individually and then meet weekly to review the study and share with one another how God spoke to each of us. It is a time for spiritual growth and fellowship. The men meet at 7:00 PM each Thursday and are studying the minor prophets. For those men who do not want to drive at night, you can still attend the same men's study each Thursday morning at 9:30 AM. Neil is teaching the same class each session;
(3) Church BBQs – we need men to run the barbeque as needed when the church schedules a BBQ;
(4) Men’s Conference – Once a year HGCC has a Men’s Conference. Attending these conferences will sharpen you and develop spiritual growth.
